Quote of the Day

This QotD is brought to you by Jim Leyland via Peter Gammons, from his latest Diamond Notes.

Former manager Jim Leyland says, "there is no way Barry Bonds was on steroids when he played for me, and he won two MVPs in three years." It should have been three in three. "I think Andy Van Slyke was wrong to make those comments," says Leyland. "I think he was a little jealous of Barry."

The third was when he lost in 1991 to Terry Pendleton . . . which that would have given Barry FOUR consecutive MVPs, because he also won in his first season in San Francisco (1993). Add to that his loss (2000) to Jeff Kent, and Bonds would have EIGHT MVP awards on his resume (having TWICE won 4 consecutive).

Simply Amazing.

Editor's Note: It looks like it's almost time for Southpaw Junior to arrive. I'll make sure to let everyone know when he does. Again, I apologize for lack of new content.
